Wholesale BPA-Free Thermal Paper Rolls

A receipt printer is a simple machine until the paper is wrong. The door will not close, the print walks off the edge, or the roll runs out in the middle of a Saturday rush. POS Quality Paper sells BPA-free thermal paper rolls for that job, packed as cases and tray packs rather than single rolls from an office-supply shelf.

The catalog is thermal receipt paper only. No bond, no carbonless guest checks, no ribbons. If the printer is thermal, the roll has to be thermal. A plain paper roll will not print.

What a case is for

Most of the site is built for the person who already knows the printer is hungry. A single restaurant counter can go through a 3 1/8 inch roll in a shift. A card terminal on a quiet desk may sit on an 85 foot roll for a week. A fuel dispenser is different again: the door is outside, the visit costs time, and the long roll is the one that makes sense.

That is why the products are listed as tray packs and 50-roll cases, not as a 5-pack. A case costs less per roll, and free shipping starts at $100, so most cases clear it on their own. Where a quantity break applies, the product page shows it as “as low as.” Tray packs are there when a full case is more than the storeroom can hold. A 25-by-2 tray pack is still a bulk order. It is just easier to split across two registers.

We opened in Alabama in 2018, selling to local retail. Case quantities now go out to wholesalers and multi-site shops across the country. The list is the same either way. Pick the width, pick the length, order the pack.

Width first, then length

Width is the spec that has to match. Length is how much paper is on the roll. Core size is the tube the spindle passes through. Get the width wrong and nothing else matters.

3 1/8 inch is about 80 mm. It is the standard for countertop POS printers and full-size cash registers. If the old core says 3 1/8, or the manual says 80 mm, start with the 3 1/8 inch rolls . Lengths we list run from 119 feet up to 300 feet. A longer roll means fewer changes on a busy register. It also has a larger outside diameter, and some compact printers will not close on a 273 or 300 foot roll. Check the bay before you jump to the longest case.

3 inch sits just under that. It is not a substitute. A 3 inch roll in a 3 1/8 inch printer will wander. We list 150, 165, and 190 foot rolls in 50-roll cases for printers that specifically call for 3 inch.

2 1/4 inch is about 57 mm. This is the usual credit-card machine width, and it is common in mobile printers and some kitchen printers. Short rolls at 50, 70, and 85 feet are the everyday terminal sizes. Longer rolls at 150, 200, and 230 feet suit a higher volume only if the compartment can take the diameter. Those 2 1/4 inch rolls are BPA-free, in cases and tray packs.

2 5/16 inch is the fuel-pump width. The 400 foot tray pack, 12 rolls by 2, is the long-run option for a dispenser that sits between service visits. Shorter 209 and 210 foot rolls are on the 2 5/16 inch pump rolls page. Pump printers are less forgiving than a counter register. Match the dispenser before the first case, and do not assume a 2 1/4 inch terminal roll will run in the pump.

2 inch and 1 3/4 inch cover the smaller terminals. We stock a 2 x 80 tray pack and a 1 3/4 x 150 tray pack. Use them only when the old roll or the manual names that width.

Registers, card machines, and pumps

A lot of buyers search for register paper, POS paper, and receipt paper as if those were different products. On this site they are the same thing: a BPA-free thermal roll cut to a width. The name changes with the machine.

A cash register or a countertop POS station is usually 3 1/8 inch. A standalone card machine is usually 2 1/4 inch. Those credit-card widths are listed on their own because that buyer is searching for machine paper, not a register case. A pay-at-the-pump dispenser is often 2 5/16 inch, while the indoor register at the same site is back to 3 1/8. Restaurants often need both. The front counter and the card terminal are not always the same width, and the kitchen printer may be a third. Order them as separate cases. A mixed carton is how the wrong roll ends up in the kitchen.

We do not list a printer-by-printer guarantee on the homepage. Brands change bay depth and core size between models. The safe check is the roll already in the machine, or the label inside the paper door. Most manufacturers print the width there. If that roll is gone, use the manual. After the width is certain, pick the longest length the door will still close on.

BPA-free, and what that does not mean

Every roll we list is BPA-free. Bisphenol A is not the color developer in these grades. Buyers ask because receipts are handled all day. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences describes BPA as a high-volume chemical used in plastics and resins, which is why retailers started asking for a different receipt grade.

BPA-free is not the same claim as phenol-free or BPS-free. Some BPA-free paper still uses another phenol. We do not call these rolls phenol-free, and we do not claim a Prop 65 file on this page. California’s Proposition 65 FAQ is the official explanation of that warning law, including chemicals that show up on receipts. Washington has also moved state agencies off bisphenol receipt paper, which is covered in this Washington State note on thermal receipts . If a bid asks for no-phenols-added paper, email us and we will tell you what the current grade is before you order a case. The honest line is the one on the product: BPA-free thermal.

Storage still matters. Thermal paper develops color with heat. A case left on a dashboard, on a pump island, or over a grill line can gray at the edge before it is ever loaded. Keep cases cool, dry, and out of direct sun, and use older cases first. A faded roll is usually a storage problem, not a bad printer.

How the packs are sold

The thermal category is the full list. Size categories break it down so a reorder does not mean scrolling every width.

3 1/8 inch is the deepest list: 119, 165, 200, 220, 230, 273, and 300 foot rolls. Several lengths come both as a 25-by-2 tray pack and as a 50-roll case. The 300 foot roll is a 10-by-4 tray pack. 2 1/4 inch runs from the short terminal rolls up to 230 feet. 2 5/16 inch is three products: 400, 210, and 209. The 3 inch rolls are cases. The narrow rolls are tray packs.

Register and pump menus point at the same size pages. If a category looks empty, use the width page. The stock lives there.

Price, shipping, and a return

Fair price here means the case price, not a single-roll price dressed up as wholesale. Compare a 50-roll case with a 50-roll case. A short 2 1/4 x 50 case is the low end of the list. A long 3 1/8 or a 400 foot pump tray pack sits higher because there is more paper on the roll. The product page is the price. The homepage is not a quote.

Free shipping applies to orders over $100. That threshold is why a case is the normal order. Split shipments and special routes are a phone call, not a promise on this page.

A reseller does not need a different catalog. The same cases ship, and the same “as low as” breaks apply. What changes is the rhythm. A wholesaler wants the same width every month, not a browse through new arrivals.

Email the width, the length, and how many cases a month. We do not private-label on this site, and we do not print logos on the roll back unless a separate agreement says so. Stock rolls, known sizes, BPA-free. That is the offer. If you need a standing order, the phone is faster than the cart.

A short check before the first case

Read the width on the old core. Confirm it is thermal, not bond. Pick the length that fits the bay. Match the pack to how fast the site uses paper. Then look at the core if the printer is a pump or a small terminal. Many countertop rolls use a common small core. Some dispensers do not. If we have not printed a core size on the product, ask before you buy the first case of pump paper.

Once a case has run cleanly, reorder the same URL. The tray-pack and the case of the same length are separate pages on purpose, so the pack you want is the pack that arrives.

Questions we get before an order

Is this receipt paper or thermal paper? Both names, one product. The rolls are direct thermal. They do not need a ribbon.

Can I use 3 inch in a 3 1/8 printer? No. Order the width the printer asks for.

Which length should a busy register get? The longest one the door will close on. On our 3 1/8 list that may be 230, 273, or 300 feet. Do not assume the longest is the right one.

What does a card machine take? Usually 2 1/4 inch, often 50, 70, or 85 feet. Confirm on the terminal before a 50-roll case.

What does a gas pump take? Often 2 5/16 inch. We stock 209, 210, and 400 foot rolls. Confirm the dispenser brand on the first order.

Do you ship free? Yes, on orders over $100.
